Identification guide
How to identify a sprinkler valve
Start with markings, then use the valve's features to cross-check them. A symptom or a familiar shape cannot establish an OEM service-part match.
1. Record the marking without opening the valve
Read the manufacturer and complete model from the body or bonnet. Include letters, hyphens and suffixes such as F, JT and HP. Keep a solenoid's model separate from the valve model.
2. Describe the installation
Record nominal size, connection type, globe or angle geometry, top fastening and whether a flow-control knob is present. If an anti-siphon or vacuum-breaker assembly is involved, confirm the exact device and consult a qualified professional.
3. Exclude common lookalikes
- Jar-Top is a fastening style. It does not establish Hunter PGV identity. Orbit and WaterMaster remain unsupported.
- Richdel and Hardie labels are historical clues. They do not prove compatibility with Irritrol parts.
- A 1-inch Silver Bullet requires old-style vs HP confirmation.
- Screw count, color and 24 VAC are insufficient on their own.
4. Check the requested assembly
A shared diaphragm does not prove a shared bonnet or repair kit. Look up the exact model and requested part separately.
Irritrol 205205S / 205T and 205SF / 205TF share a diaphragm. Their cover and diaphragm kits are different.Irritrol 2400 / 26002400 has globe geometry; 2600 has angle geometry. Shared internal parts do not make complete valves interchangeable.Rain Bird DV / DVF / ASVFRPKDIAPHRE is a diaphragm repair kit, SKU 21074603. ASVF includes anti-siphon protection and requires a separate safety check.Hunter PGV 1-inchScrew / captive-bolt and Jar-Top variants share diaphragm 332100SP. Their bonnets and fastening systems differ. Orbit Jar-Top is outside this lookup.Weathermatic Silver BulletThe 1-inch old-style and HP bodies, bonnets and diaphragms are incompatible. Confirm the full model and generation.
